I could have used my head
And we'd still be together somehow"

"...Voters are bombarded with political messages, including the usual acts of deception designed to confuse and manipulate the voting public.
An official-looking but phony “Broward County Voter Guide” is all over social media and mailboxes, especially throughout the 20th congressional district, in Broward’s most closely watched local primary race.
The visual presence of the Democrats’ top-tier candidates — David Jolly for governor and Gwen Graham for lieutenant governor — is designed to lend credibility to the piece.
A fake Republican voter guide scheme in St. Augustine’s St. Johns County led to criminal charges against five people, including two elected officials. Similar knock-off guides surfaced in the past two election cycles in Broward, too.
“Here we go again,” Democratic Party activist Cheryl Levin of Sunrise wrote on Facebook. “Note to the world: The Broward County Democratic Executive Committee did NOT create or approve this card.”
The fake guide was paid for by Our Blue Democracy Action PAC, with a Tallahassee address, as a required fine-print disclaimer shows.
State records show that political committee has received most of its money from another PAC called — wait for it — the Friends of Marlon Bolton PAC, controlled by Bolton, a Tamarac city commissioner.
The Broward Democratic Party has an official voter guide on its Facebook page that lists every candidate in every race without telling people how to vote. Broward Republicans have one, too, that selectively recommends candidates in several races.
The Democratic Party’s response to the “voter guide” trick has been much too weak. It is not alerting Democratic voters loudly enough.
Sadly, some voters may be fooled by these shenanigans. But they shouldn’t be.
The phony “voter guide” uses a shade of blue and a font style that resembles the Broward Democratic Party’s real voter guide in an obvious attempt to confuse voters..."

"...Tamarac, a city of about 76,000 residents, received two checks totaling more than $1 million — $1,064,932.39, to be exact.
At a meeting on May 13, Vice Mayor Marlon Bolton shamelessly led an effort to steer nearly half the total settlement money — $500,000 — to undefined “initiatives” or pet causes.
The rationalization is that residents are struggling and need help paying for food, electricity and gasoline. That’s obviously true, but why should politicians determine who gets help?
Neither Bolton nor his commission allies said how they plan to spend any of the money.
Water needs of $100 million
Bolton persisted, even as the city manager cautioned that Tamarac will need to spend up to $100 million for a new water treatment plant and related costs..."
